Biggest Loser season 9, super morbidly obese contestants compete

NBC's The Biggest Loser has pushed the limits of training obese contestants over the 8 previous seasons. Bigger and bigger contestants are drafted to compete in a weight loss contest that would challenge most overweight and even many normal weight people.

Now magnify this by what Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper called a "daunting" effort for the largest Biggest Loser contestants ever. A daily regimen of extreme workouts and strict dieting is hard under any circumstances. Magnify that by carrying the burden of super morbid obesity. Click here to view an NBC Biggest Loser preview video.

Anyone with a BMI of 40-50 is morbidly obese. If you have a BMI above 50 you're considered super morbidly obese. Biggest Loser contestant Michael, at 6 foot 3 and 526 pounds, has a shocking BMI of 65.7. Twins James and John, at 6 foot 5 each and weights of 484 and 485, have an equally unhealthy BMI of 57.5.

Becoming the Biggest Loser while you're obese or morbidly obese takes super human effort. While that doesn't make this goal impossible, now we are watching the biggest contestants ever push themselves to unbelievable efforts. Click here to read more and watch video.

Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels 'I struggled with slow metabolism'

Jillian Michaels, the Biggest Loser's toughest trainer, admitted she suffered from a slow metabolism. In her new book she reveals how she healed her metabolism by making key changes. She details in 'Master Your Metabolism' secrets to naturally balance your weight loss hormones.

Jillian admits to eating poorly, eating too little, and over training. She told Julie Deardorff of the Chicago Tribune, "My hormones were entirely whacked out—and with it, my metabolism."

Jillian went on to heal her metabolism through improved food choices and less time in the gym. Jillian points out in her book she changed the emphasis of her workouts to more resistance training and less aerobics. This, along with adequate protein intake, builds muscle mass and raises metabolism.

Jllian asked for expert assistance in writing this latest book from endocrinologist Dr. Christine Darwin, and medical researcher Mariska van Aalst. This book has its foundations based soundly on medical science and offers real help for everyone struggling with weight loss and weight maintenance. Read more and watch Jillian's videos.

Are Biggest Loser contestants reverse cheating?

Biggest Loser Season Three Winner Erik Chopin Talks To Oprah About Regaining 122 Pounds.

Are you cheating on your diet or reverse cheating?

Are 'The Biggest Loser Couples' contestants cheating after they're voted off the ranch? Is it possible to lose unreal amounts of weight in record time in a less than optimal environment at home? These questions have been raise by fitness experts and the media alike.

According to TV Guide reporter Rochell D. Thomas, she questions whether the contestants are "stretching the believability when it comes to postshow reality?"

Several of this season's 'The Biggest Loser Couples' contestants who were voted off the show have gone home and recreated the rigors of the ranch. They transformed their own homes into mini versions of The Biggest Loser Ranch. Training 6 to 8 hours a day and eating strictly, they've achieved phenomenal results. Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels need not apply. No doubt that the two beloved Biggest Loser trainers, as well as the ranch's support staff, have deeply impressed upon these contestants the value of a healthy lifestyle. But this season's contestants have taken the message to heart, as well as home.

A few of these weight loss renegades returned home and informed no one, including family, friends, and coworkers, that they were off the ranch. Read more and find out if the contestants are at risk for exercise addiction.

Can Alli make you a biggest loser?

Alli for weight loss; is it safe and effective?

What is Alli?

Alli weight loss aid is the latest diet craze. It's simply an over-the-counter version is the diet drug orlistat. Known as Xenical, orlistat was widely researched, and in double blind testing found to be effective for weight loss. Alli is a lower dose than the prescription drug, yet effective if used in combination with a low fat diet and exercise.

Is Alli a weight loss cure?

While a sure fire weight loss cure does not exist, Alli is a useful tool in your weight loss arsenal. The only other medical intervention that causes weight loss is weight loss surgery which is invasive and potentially dangerous.

How does Alli work?

Alli blocks 30 percent of the fat you eat and causes it to pass undigested through your digestive tract. Relatively safe to use, Alli can be purchased at virtually all drug stores, pharmacies, many grocery stores, and through online retailers like Amazon, Netrition, and MyAlli.com

Is Alli safe?

Alli is the only FDA approved weight loss drug. While safe, it can have side effects if misused. Effective for men and women, Alli is taken right before meals containing fat, and can be taken up to three times a day. Because Alli causes fat to pass through your digestive tract, it's recommended that you eat no more than 15 grams of fat in each meal. This will help you avoid embarrassing symptoms like gas and diarrhea.

Will you be a biggest loser by using Alli?

That depends on you and whether you also follow a healthy, calorie controlled, low fat diet. Moderate exercise will enhance your weight loss results and improve your health. Unlike Hoodia, which purports to control appetite, Alli was proven in scientific studies.

Are there effective alternatives to taking Alli?

Yes. Regular exercise and proper diet with careful calorie and carbohydrate control is effective for weight loss. If you simple eat 30 percent less fat you will not need Alli to remove it in the first place.
